A new Sporting Director could be at the Emirates Stadium imminently as Arsenal are reportedly close to appointing Andrea Berta for the role which has been vacant for some months.
The Gunners have seemingly found a replacement for former director Edu, who departed the North London outfit last year.
A very busy summer awaits Mikel Arteta’s side. Despite stand-in sporting director Jason Ayto being well regarded at the Emirates Stadium, club chiefs are set on bringing in an upgrade to assume the role.
Arsenal had fancied PSG’s Luis Campos but he is not keen on coming to England, and it appears they have now taken their search elsewhere.
“Understand Andrea Berta is now the top candidate to become new Arsenal director in order to replace Edu,“ Fabrizio Romano stated. “Discussions already took place, Berta left Atletico after building the team with key signings in recent years. Talks at an advanced stage, not done/sealed yet.”
Berta, who previously worked at Atletico Madrid, will bring his wealth of experience to North London after orchestrating moves for the likes of David Villa, Rodri and Antoine Griezmann in the past.
