Anthony Joshua v Daniel Dubois Rematch Gets Tentative Date

A rematch of the IBF Heavyweight title fight between British boxing rivals, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, could happen early next year as a ‘surprise’ bout in Saudi Arabia.

Dubois retained the IBF title belt after getting a win by knock-out over Joshua in September. That fight, in front of around 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London, saw Dubois drop Joshua four times on his way to a fifth round win.

After that match, AJ’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed at the time that there’s a rematch clause which will likely be activated. And now, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, has hinted at this.

“In February, again Queensberry against Matchroom, 5 vs 5,” Al-Sheikh told Sky Sports. He added “Let’s see the result about this fight [between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol on Saturday], and the result of the big fight on 21 December: [Oleksandr] Usyk vs Tyson [Fury]. Joshua, Dubois, Tyson, Usyk – everyone, everyone on the line. This is what we want: we want the big fights.”

While Dubois holds the IBF title belt, Usyk holds the WBC, WBA and WBO title belts – all of which will be on the line when he comes up against Tyson Fury in December. The winner between Usyk and Fury would likely face Dubois or AJ for the undisputed heavyweight crown.
