Angry Fans Tell Real Madrid Player to Retire after El Clasico Miss

Real Madrid fans have unleashed their anger at one player after Sunday’s 4-3 loss against bitter rivals Barcelona, a result that all-but-ends Los Blancos’ title challenge as Barca now need just a point to wrestle the title back from Madrid’s hands.

But the case could have been different had 21-year-old Victor Munoz converted a crucial scoring chance in the 89th minute, shortly after coming on for an injured Vinicius Junior in the 88th minute, with Madrid trailing 4-3 against Barcelona.

Hat-trick hero Kylian Mbappe threaded a through ball into the box, which found Munoz in a one-on-one situation with Barca goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, only for the youngster to lose composure and fire his shot off target.

The result put Carlo Ancelotti’s side seven points behind Barcelona with three games left to play, with a section of Madrid fans directing abuse at Munoz on social media, and some of them even calling for him to retire.

Munoz, who was making his La Liga debut for Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico, has since disabled the comments on his Instagram account. The attacker has been a vital player for Madrid’s Castilla side this season, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists in 31 appearances.
