Rising tennis youngster Mirra Andreeva battled her way into round three at Wimbledon thanks to a 6-1, 7-6 win over Lucia Bronzetti on Thursday.
The seventh seed dominated her opponent in the first set which she wrapped up in just 23 minutes, but was made to sweat by 26-year-old Bronzetti in the second set before prevailing on her second match point in the tiebreak.

Next up in the third round for 18-year-old Andreeva is a clash against Hailey Baptiste on Saturday after the American overcame Victoria Mboko of Canada in her second round match on Thursday.
Elsewhere in the women’s singles at Wimbledon on Thursday, former champion Elena Rybakina was comfortable on her way into the third round with a 6-3 6-1 victory over Maria Sakkari of Greece.
Sakkari produced three successive double faults in the opening game as Rybakina took an easy lead and controlled the rest of the contest on Court One. Despite dropping serve at the start of the second set, 11th seeded Rybakina bounced back to quickly wrap up passage into the third round
