Philippines wildcard Alexandra Eala produced a massive upset as she bundled out American fifth seed and reigning Australian Open champion, Madison Keys, in straight sets to reach the next round of the Miami Open in Florida.
The 19-year-old, who won the US Open girls singles title in 2022, took out Keys 6-4, 6-2 to become the first woman from the Philippines to beat a top-10 opponent since the ranking system was introduced in 1975.
Eala will face Paula Badosa in the Round-of-16 after the Spaniard beat Denmark’s Clara Tauson 6-3, 7-6.
