Carlos Alcaraz has reached the Australian Open last eight after his British number one, Jack Draper, retired from their fourth round encounter.
Alcaraz was two sets up on Draper before the 15th seed, who came into the Grand Slam nursing a hip injury, threw in the towel with the score at 7-5 6-1 in Alcaraz’s favour.
The win sets up a potential quarter-final clash between the third-seeded Spaniard and 10-time Australian Open champion, Novak Djokovic, with the Serb facing Jiri Lehecka later on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Alexander Zverev booked his place in the last eight with a 6-1 2-6 6-3 6-2 win over Ugo Humbert, while Tommy Paul got a 6-1 6-1 6-1 win over Alejandro Fokina.
