NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, has proposed that the most popular basketball league in the world starts playing 10-minute quarters rather than the 12 minutes teams currently play per quarter.
Silver made the suggestion during his guest appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, saying 40-minute games instead of 48 minutes is better because of evolving television audience along with the need to be in alignment with international rules.
“I’m a fan of four 10-minute quarters. I’m not sure that many others are,” Silver said. “It’s such a dramatic change to the game. I think something like that would have to be talked more about over time.”
The NBA Commissioner added that it is not a regulation which the league is considering actively, noting that there will be a need to further study the situation before it can be implemented.
