Real Madrid turns 123 years old and the club’s history is filled with numerous glorious moments as Los Blancos is synonymous with winning trophies. In all the years of success, here are five of Real Madrid’s most celebrated achievements:

The First Five European Cups (1956-1960)

This era established Real Madrid as a dominant force in European football. Winning the first five editions of the European Cup in a row is a feat that remains legendary. The 1960 final, a 7-3 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, is particularly iconic.

La Décima (2014)

Winning their 10th UEFA Champions League title was a moment of immense pride. The dramatic final against Atlético Madrid, with Sergio Ramos’s late equaliser and the subsequent extra-time victory, was a truly unforgettable experience.

La Liga Dominance

Real Madrid’s consistent success in La Liga, with a record number of titles, is a source of constant pride. Ancelotti won the club’s 36th La Liga crown last season with multiple games to spare. However, there have been some more memorable league title wins.

Managed at the time by Zinedine Zidane, the club fought a fierce battle with Barcelona in the 2016-17 season, eventually winning the title on the final day with victory over Malaga and ending a five-year wait to lift the trophy again.

Another memorable league title win came in the 2006-07 season when Madrid came from a goal down to defeat Real Mallorca on the last day of the season to once again edge arch-rivals, Barcelona, to the title.

The Three-peat (2016-18)

Arguably a top three when listing Real Madrid’s achievements over 123 years of existence, the three-peat saw Los Blancos become the first team in the Champions League era (since 1992) to win the title three times in a row.

Real Madrid overcame city rivals, Atletico Madrid, 5-3 on penalties in 2016 before a second-half masterclass gave Madrid the title in 2017 at the expense of Juventus. They would follow up with a 3-1 win over Liverpool – again with another brilliant second-half display – to lift their 13th title and complete the three-peat.

The “Ye-Ye” Sixth European Cup (1966)

This victory was special because the team consisted entirely of Spanish-born players. It showcased the strength of Spanish talent and marked a new era for the club.

Real Madrid’s ability to maintain a high level of performance over decades is a testament to their enduring strength. These moments represent the club’s winning mentality and its ability to achieve greatness on the biggest stages.
