Novak Djokovic has bowed out of the Brisbane International following a shock straight-set loss to Reilly Opelka in the quarter-final of the competition.

The 37-year-old defending champion was hoping to win a 100th ATP title to join Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer as the only men’s players to win 100 or more titles on the tour.

But Opelka, ranked 293rd in the world, had other ideas as the 27-year-old claimed a 7-6 6-3 win over the record 24-time grand slam winner to set up a semi-final clash against Giovanni Perricard of France.
